Client
The client is a world-wide manufacturer of high specification metal products, with factories located in Europe and the USA. Group annual turnover is around £250 million and the client division commissioning the research had an annual turnover of around £75 million.
Research Brief
The existing business was unprofitable and the client was looking to outsource up to half its annual production to a high quality and lower cost producer. The goal was to conduct a world-wide search to identify potential manufacturers with sufficiently competitive prices, as well as adequate manufacturing capabilities, both in terms of quality and capacity.
Results
The study successfully identified two high quality/low cost producers, both located in India. The client was able to close two factories and initiate a major supply chain contract, thus re-establishing profitable trading.
